• Identify, organize and analyze medical records and other related materials, ensuring all appropriate records, policies and other items have been identified and requested.
• Ensure all parties have been identified in the case.
• Identify record tampering, omissions, and contradictions.
• Prepare a chronology, timeline, or narrative report of the documents associated with the medical records/events.
• Identify applicable standards of care, causation, and exposure.
• Conduct medical literature searches and assist in other research as needed.
• Educate attorneys and clients regarding clinical facts and issues in cases.
• Assist in obtaining appropriate expert witnesses.
• Participate in interviews with clients and witnesses about the medical case.
• Collaborate with the legal team on case management and strategy.
• Draft or review deposition documents, interrogatory questions, and other legal documents.
• Assist with depositions and trials.
• Accompany to Independent Medical Evaluation (IME).
• Serve as nurse expert witness or fact witness if needed.
• Act as a liaison among attorneys, physicians, and clients.
